For the last few weeks I have been looking for something to knit. I wanted to knit a sweater but couldn't seem to find the right yarn. Then I discovered I didn't have all the needles I needed. I settled for finishing some things in my UFO pile and I did get a few things done but I soon came to an unsatisfied end. ( I not only still have things in the UFO pile, but after looking around for sweater yarn, I found more UFO's!)
So I decided to take the yarn anyway and knit something. I started off with 80 st on a size 7 needle and knit ribbing. I was knitting a scarf, no a bag, no a hat. Yes, a hat. I already had a hat though, so how about a tam or better yet a slouchy. The problem that I always have with hats is that my hair grows so fast the hats are useless in a month and my ears are still cold. This hat would be big enough to contain my hair at full mass and sits below my hairline where it won't give me a headache.
After deciding to make a slouchy I ripped out the tam and reknit it. It was the happiest 3.5 hours I've had in a while. But why?
I realized I haven't knit anything for the last 2 weeks or more. I made a pair of mittens but more with production in mind than just to enjoy it. I've been spinning for work and the yarn was lovely! ( I wanted to keep it!) But still not for pleasure. I had been noticing that I was short tempered, restless, impatient, and watching our wed night knit group with a bit of envy. I missed my knitting!
So I'm knitting a slouchy out of Plymouth Mushishi yarn(95% wool, 5% silk) and loving it. It's not exactly for me, but it's for me you know?
You may notice I am quite a bit calmer when you see me. If I'm not, I've probably finished. Just tell me to go knit.=)
